Mikel J. Wisler, author of Short Films 2.0: Getting Noticed in the YouTube Age and award-winning filmmaker behind dozens of short films presents this one-day course that explores how short films have dramatically changed in recent years and how you can embrace these changes to make better films and reach a bigger audience. Wisler has been making films and commercial projects for 13 years and has witnessed firsthand the profound shift in how short films work, what their purpose is, and how to avoid common pitfalls.

 

As a co-founder of Stories by the River, Wisler has years of experience in helping equip new filmmakers with the knowledge and skills needed to advance their careers. You will also have the opportunity in to present questions, interact with the speaker, and network with other filmmakers in attendance in a casual and fun environment.

 

The course will run from 10 am to 4 pm, with an hour lunch break at 12:30 pm. Coffee and tea will be provided. Several restaurants are within walking distance.

 

There is free parking available in the lot behind the building along the wall facing the demolished Free Masons building. Do not park in the middle spots as those belongs to Santander Bank, which is open on Saturdays. There is also free street parking.

The River South Center is located on the lower level, beneath the bank. Enter via the front door on Hancock Street and take the stairs or elevator to the lower level.
