Getting Ready to Move

Yeah, that's right. I have to pack up and move. Yay.

Now, I'm not going far. I'm just moving from Quincy, MA to Braintree, MA. The place I've been in for the last two years is under new ownership, and they are bumping up the price more than I'm comfortable absorbing. But I found a spot that's actually a little cheaper than I'm paying right now, even before the bump in price here. It's a little smaller, no dishwasher, but the savings will add up.

This has also been a good opportunity to declutter my stuff. It's amazing how easy it is to collect things. I've been trying to apply some Marie Kondo (yes, I've actually read her book LOL) thinking and letting go of things that don't spark joy.

Speaking of decluttering my life...

I'm trying to improve my mental health. One step I have taken this week is to remove all social media from my phone. That shit is far too additive! Plus, I was reflecting on how I've been feeling recently and this video by Dr. Matt Jones caught my eye on Sunday. So I gave it a watch. I was confronted by how much I can see the weakening of my brain happening because of the habits he discusses.

One of the things that stood out to me in the video is how we were not wired to handle the massive emotional swings social media is presenting to us every 90 seconds. One moment, we're laughing at something genuinely funny, and the next we are being horrified and infuriated by current events.

So that was it. Social media had to come off my phone. And I gotta say, for me at least, I'm feeling better. I'm going to stick with it for now and see how it goes. That's not to say I'm not keeping up with news. I'm just doing it more slowly and deliberately.

I am still posting to social media, but I tend to use posting platform where I can schedule those posts ahead of time and it goes out to multiple social media platforms at once. I'll still check in once a day on a computer or iPad, but not having it on my phone is allowing me to not fill every vacant second with the quest for a dopamine hit.

At any rate, writing continues. Post-production for our latest film continues. We'll be done by the end of the month.

Also, "The Rewind" will play at the Lois Weber Film Festival on March 22. It actually is the final film in the festival to play. Learn more about that here.

Oh, and Stop got a review on Goodreads. So that's cool!

I hope you're all well. More news soon.
