One of the great things about great #SciFi is that it can sometimes shine a light on what might well be right around the corner for us. In Fareignheight 451, Ray Bradbury seems to have predicted a world of isolation and personal media addiction with the devices people put in their ears at all hours of the day to listen to their own music. It seems to have a pacifying effect on people and often the go through their whole day in their own little world with their own entertainment and even fall asleep with these things in. Geez, sort of makes me think about the times I've fallen asleep to Netflix on my iPhone. Is that just me? Yeah. Probably. You don't do that.
As a former short filmmaker myself and lover of the medium of #shortfilms, I like keeping an eye on what's out there. There are lots of new and amazingly talented storytellers out there making some awesome short films. I ran across an incredibly disturbing and evocative short film I want to share here. This is very much in the realm of #BlackMirror (which I love). And it is not only plausible, but it also seems to be alarmingly all too likely. Don't let the on-the-nose title put you off too much. Take a look...
So, what do you think? Comment with your reactions. Is this #meangingfulSciFi or alarmist BS?
