This past weekend, I got to see and review the new film, Beatriz at Dinner, for the Stories by the River YouTube show, Only A Movie. The film had so much potential, and I still find it quite worth watching given everything it deals with and the amazing performances. But I found the ending to ultimately be quite disappointing and that it sends a really disturbing message (intentionally or not). As a storyteller, this is a great reminder for me to really step outside of my own head and consider carefully how my story really conveys its meaning and ideas to an audience.
